The Arms Trade

According to Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), arms sales of the world’s largest 100 arms-producing companies grew by 1.9% to $592 billion in 2021, despite supply chain challenges.

Last week, for the first time in over 30 years, the US launched a new strategic bomber – Northrop Grumman’s Raider –  with a price tag of $700 million.

Despite a 6% fall in arms sales at Northrop Grumman, it had revenues of $30 billion in 2021, making it the fourth largest in the world.

Raytheon’s arms sales grew by 9% to $42 billion, putting it second to Lockheed Martin with $60 billion.
